Prayer Spaces in Schools
A prayer space can be created in a variety of places such as a classroom or outdoor area where the space can be transformed for a few days or a week with a range of creative activities that encourage personal reflection on issues such as forgiveness, injustice, thankfulness, big questions, identity and stillness. These spaces provide children and young people with an opportunity to explore prayer in an open, inclusive and safe environment, and help them to develop skills of personal reflection.
Prayer spaces can provide a valuable contribution to schools’ statutory responsibility to support the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils.
If you would like a local team to create a prayer space in your school, contact Susie Finn ([email protected]) for further information and to discuss your schools’ specific needs and preferred topics.
