Creative Projects

Make Your Cut

7-12th April 2025

Calling all young prospective filmmakers

Make Your Cut is a week-long, hands-on filmmaking project for young enthusiasts run by inspiring local filmmakers Broden Salmon and Tom Parkinson.

After the success of the project in 2023, we’re delighted to announce its return to continue helping young people advance their creative skills without financial barriers.

The project gives up to eight applicants aged 16-19 the chance to go behind the camera and spend a week as a videographer. Everyone will be involved from pre-production, script development and filming all elements through to the finished film, which will be screened at The Grand Venue later this year.

Participants can expect to come away having developed and honed their skills and experience in filmmaking and met other young filmmakers in their area.

There will also be a drop-in session to learn more about the project and meet the tutors on 18th March at 6.00pm.

When?

The programme will run from Monday 7th until Saturday 12th April 2025, approximately 10am-4pm each day, so you’ll need to be free during that week.

Who?

Applicants must live in or have a strong connection with the local area and must be aged 16-19 at the time of the project. You’ll also need to be passionate about filmmaking and hungry to learn more.

Where?

The project will be hosted here at The Grand in Clitheroe but then will be shot on location wherever is decided during the sessions. Any transport will be provided during shooting.

How much does it cost?

Make Your Cut is free to all successful applicants. The only cost to you will be your time. All equipment will be provided.
