Be My Band
Be My Band (BMB) is an inclusive music project aimed to help new and experienced musicians to improve their musical confidence and skills whilst playing in a band.
BMB is a safe space to experiment, learn and have fun with our musical leader and genius, Marc Winstanley.
We encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in the programme, bring their own spin on music and create a band they are proud of. We cater for all musical backgrounds and instruments, including: guitar, bass, vocals, trumpet, violin, drums, keyboard across genres such as: rock, jazz, alternative, blues, pop, folk and soul.
The programme runs one specialist class each term in topics such as stage presence, improvisation, branding, creating a music video and studio recording.
We regularly create opportunities for each band to gig in front of live audiences. With around ten bands of all ages and styles we aim to offer tailored opportunities to each band. This can include supporting events as part of the Grand’s programme of live music events and playing at BeMyBand’s very own ‘Reverb’ gigs. We tend to run ‘Reverb at Christmas’ in The Grand Venue and have recently run ‘Reverb in the Mill Yard’ in partnership with Holmes Mill.
